Mindanao Collection, inspired by the Philippines

Colourful, bold, casual and contemporary, this is the new Pepe Peñalver collection, MINDANAO, inspired by the indigenous art and textile tradition of the Philippines.

A rich floral embroidery is presented as the central theme of the collection, accompanied by an energetic mix of jacquard fabrics with Ikat effect and watercolour tie-dye prints, achieving an attractive textile proposal with which to bring any space to life.

Pepe Peñalver reaches a perfect symbiosis of ancestral and deep-rooted past together with the latest, disruptive and innovative trends, where the explosion of colour is positioned as the maximum exponent and clear hallmark of the brand.

MANILA

The capital of the Philippines, Manila, gives its name to this extraordinary floral embroidery, from which the famous Manila shawl takes its name.
Its flowers seem to be trapped and pressed inside this fabric, made on a soft linen and cotton base.

Its intense range of colours enhance the volume of its design, presented in four tones: porcelain blue, burnt orange, celadon green and beige.

PANAY

Inspired by the rich history of the island of Panay, this ethnic print is reminiscent of the traditional tie dye technique, imitating the gradients achieved through this dyeing process, where the outlines are blurred, giving the fabric a geometric design with a unique, watercolour look.

It is made on a 100% linen base in double width, and is available in beige, porcelain blue, mustard, burnt orange and celadon green.

ISABELA

This monochrome print brings to life a garden full of lush flowers and leaves, named after one of the Philippines’ richest wildlife provinces, Isabela.  With a 100% linen base and available in double width, it is a particularly suitable fabric for curtains and decoration. The silhouettes and lines of its pattern are reminiscent of traditional block prints, combining the light base of the fabric with a more intense tone.

It is available in five vibrant colours: porcelain blue, mustard, burnt orange, celadon green and a subtle beige.

3 Upholstery fabrics as protagonists

CEBU
The island of Cebu, with its tropical climate and vibrant nature, is the inspiration for this geometric jacquard design.

The different fibres that compose the fabric are interlaced to form an oscillating zig-zag pattern in different tonalities.

It is available in five attractive colour combinations: navy blue with ice white; indigo blue and taupe; a relaxed beige with chalky white; moss green and nude; melon pink with beige.

ABACA

This functional upholstery fabric with a smooth texture and carded yarn is named after a plant known as Manila hemp. With a mottled appearance, it stands out for its great versatility, its repellency to liquids, and easy maintenance.

The game of colours of its yarns make it unique and special: strawberry pink with silver grey, mustard and anthracite black, peach orange and taupe, or fern green with dusty green, among others. It is available in 22 colours.

YAKAN

Yakan, honours one of the last tribes of Mindanao. Known for their textile tradition, the Yakan use pineapple and abaca fibres to create their geometric and colourful fabrics, using natural extracts of leaves, roots and bark to dye the yarns.

This jacquard, whose design is reminiscent of the Ikat technique, stands out for its lineal irregularity, evoking the essence of tradition and handicraft.  On a base of natural colours, this upholstery reference is available in indigo, chalk blue, jean blue, celadon green, olive green, mustard, coral, beige and grey.
